February LVCS Book Club

February 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
February – known, among other things, as the month of love and romance – brings medieval romance and mystery to the Las Vegas Celtic Society Book Club.
Join us in reading and discussing Juliet Marilier’s Heart’s Blood, a historical fantasy novel and Celtic re-telling of Beauty and the Beast. Set in medieval Ireland, the story features a scribe named Caitrin who flees to the mysterious Whistling Tor in order to break a dark family curse, and becomes entangled with its cursed chieftain, Anluan. Blending romance, folklore, and gothic elements, this tale describes how its heroine, Caitrin, uses her skills to uncover the secrets of the haunted fortress to help Anluan, who, rather than being a literal beast, actually suffers from a childhood illness (palsy).
Please join us on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 6p-8p at McMullan’s Irish Pub in the lovely Victorian Room to uncover the romance and mysteries of this month’s book!
Our space at the pub has been reserved in advance, so please do RSVP at bookclub@lasvegascelticsociety.org so we can make sure everyone is comfortable.
The Celtic Society Book Club is open to all interested, even if you don’t have time to finish the book! All are welcome to come share in the conversation and camaraderie.
Upcoming books:
March: The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde
April: A History of Scotland, Neil Oliver
May: Once There Were Wolves, Charlotte McConaghy
